BODEGAS BORSAO
The Campo de Borja region from which Bodegas Borsao hails is situated directly below the more well known wine regions of Rioja and Navarra. Often described as “Spain’s Empire of Grenache”, the region excels with wines of this variety and offers a wonderful – and competitive – alternative to the wines of the Rhone Valley which also specialise in the same grape.
The Borsao winery has its origins with the formation of the Cooperative of Borja founded in 1958 and then in 2001 merged with two other cooperatives in the region to form the Bodega as it is today. Bodegas Borsao have already carved out an enviable reputation of producing very good quality wines at very affordable prices. As the Wine Advocate’s Jay Miller writes “Bodegas Borsao has long been known for high quality value-priced wines and the current releases are no exception”.
